WWE Meets the Indies

by Alex Archer

Since Raw has gone to three hours, it's been glaringly obvious that WWE has been having a tough time keeping the show from dragging. Some new talent could be just what WWE needs. Here are some fantasy feuds from an armchair booker:

The Young Bucks vs. Team Hell No

The brash and arrogant team of Nick and Matt Jackson, together known as the Young Bucks, would instantly draw the ire of the WWE Universe with their heel tactics and their over the top showboating.  A nice two or three month build where the Bucks mock, cheap shot, and constantly get the better of Kane and Bryan would have the fans in a frenzy to see the cocky bastards finally get what was coming to them.  I can almost hear Matt and Nick mocking Bryan for being a vegan dork, and Kane for being a big red nerd.

Kevin Steen vs. John Cena

Kevin Steen is basically the polar opposite of John Cena, even more so than CM Punk is being made to look like.  Steen is constantly kissing, licking, taunting, or straight up fighting fans (yes, I know it was a work), whereas Cena is curing cancer and making wishes come true.  This hero and anti-hero battle could be a new age Bret Hart vs. Steve Austin.

KENTA vs. CM Punk

The Battle of the GTS Finisher.  KENTA was the originator of the Go to Sleep, but Punk brought it to America and has popularized the move during his time with WWE.  A great feud could be built around KENTA coming over from Japan to take Punk down for “stealing” his finisher.  Honestly, the storyline wouldn’t even matter because these two would tear the house down every single night.

Davey Richards vs. Tensai

Richards has proven over and over again that he can work with anyone, especially bigger  guys like Willie Mack, Michael Elgin, and Kevin Steen.  Both Richards and Tensai have a ton of experience in brutal, stiff matches, and a feud between these two would result in some intense, violent matches.

El Generico vs. Dolph Ziggler

Generico is incredible at getting crowd sympathy while taking a beating.  Ziggler’s cocky offense would play perfectly into a passionate, crowd response fueled comeback from Generico.  We all know that Ziggler can sell a wet willy like he’s been shot in the head;  now imagine him selling a Yakuza Kick, a Brainbuster, and the rest of Generico’s fast paced offense.

Eddie Edwards vs. Wade Barrett

Barrett and Edwards have the size, the look, and the ability to pull of a great David vs. Goliath style feud.  Both guys work a physical style and Barrett has the ability on the mic to get a ton of heat by tearing down Edwards for being too small and too weak to compete with him.  This could be a great midcard feud, and I could see the WWE Universe rallying behind Edwards.
